Road Trip from Rocky Point to Cali in 6 hours (Including Border Wait Time)
The new Coastal Highway is completed and it just saved me 2 hours driving trime from Rocky Point to Cali!!
I have to admit that I didn't take the Coastal Highway the entire way since I wasn't familiar with that route yet and had to be in California at a specific time. I had to resort to the same route that I had taken back in July 2009 when the Coastal Highway was nearing completion. This route is a little bit of an adventure since there isn't a detailed map to go by and the signage isn't the best, but I gave you directions on my web site http://www.RockyPointDan.com . If you are up for the challenge.......I say go for it, do it in daylight so you could see the signs and enjoy the ride!! Mexicalli Border wait time was 30 minutes so you can call it a 5 1/2 hour drive more or less.
I plan to go to Cali again next month and I will take the Coastal Highway the entire way and let you know how it goes, give you directions and timing.
