Rocky Point Little League Receives US Major League Coaching from Scott Steinmann from Seattle Mariners
The Rocky Point Little Leaguers (approximately 75 kids) had a special treat last month by receiving professional coaching help from US Major League Players.
Scott Steinmann with the help of Rick Busa came up with the idea of having a "Coaching Clinic" for the kids of Rocky Point.
For the 2nd year in a row Scott recruited some of his friends and colleagues to participate in this years clinic.
The Coaches for this year included:
Scott Steinmann who played for the Seattle Mariners from 1996-1998
Gary Thurman who played with Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners and New York Mets
Henry Cotto who played with Seattle Mariners and coaches for San Francisco Giants Minor Leagues
Marcos Garcia who is a pitching coach with the San Francisco Giants
Brent Johnson who is coaching for Arizona Rookie League for the Peoria Mariners
The kids learned lots of tips from the five different stations that were set up for hitting, pitching, base running, outfield and infield instruction. This coaching clinic turned out to be a great success for the kids and rewarding for the coaches. For some of the coaches this was their first year participating, but they have said that it is not their last.
We thank the coaches that came to Rocky Point and dedicated their time and talents to the Rocky Point Little League kids.
