Catch of the Day in Rocky Point - Guitarfish and Pufferfish

Was fishing on shore in front of my condo and ended up catching a Guitarfish and Pufferfish.

Lucky for me to have the local guys who rent the jet skis eyeing my fishing skills. As soon as they saw me reeling something in they would run over and fill me in as to what I just caught and give me some fun facts.

So today I learned that the Guitarfish doesn't have teeth and that the Pufferfish also known as the Blowfish ingests huge amount of water and even air to turn themselves into a huge ball for defense. Also learned that both the Guitarfish and Pufferfish make for good eating, but you have to be very careful with the Pufferfish because it has deadly toxins.

Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers are ready to rock ROCKY POINT tonight!!

Twice a year this band draws thousands of people to Rocky Point and this year is no exception. The Sonoran Sea Resort has 100% occupancy. It's no surprise since they are performing right in front of the Sonoran Sea & Sonoran Spa Resorts.

It's not to late to jump in your car and head on down!!

Below is the itinerary of what to expect.

Sat. June 12

9:30 a.m. - Rock and Soccer. Mandatory check-in time for players in the first annual Rock and Soccer Tournament. Check-in will be on Sandy Beach in front of the Sonoran Spa and Sea.

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Soccer tournament! We're on a tight schedule, so we need players in place and ready to play at their assigned times. Failure to do so may result in your team forfeiting. We understand you'll be at JJ's the night before. But last minute hangovers or players claiming they canceled their wake-up calls won't excuse you from being late. At stake is a certain soccer-playing lead singer who could miss sound check! .All proceeds from the event benefit the Larry Large Foundation (childrens charities). Spectators are encouraged to show up and cheer on the teams. A few additional team shirts will be available for sale for spectators.

6 p.m. - Doors to Circus Mexicus, right next to Chango's Bar and Grill, open! Plus strolling mariachis.
7 p.m. - Eddie Spaghetti of the Supersuckers takes the stage with Tyson, Tony and Graham of The Railbenders.
8 p.m. - Main event, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers in concert!

Sun. June 13

11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Mañanathon at JJ's. Specials all day on Bloody Mary's and Roger's Mexican Moonshine. All band members, including openers, will make appearances throughout the afternoon. On stage that afternoon: The Railbenders, Eddie Spaghetti, Jason Boots and Random Karma and Gooder.

TICKETS

Advance tickets can be purchased between now and June 4 at www.peacetimegoods.com for $30.

Tickets purchased between now and May 31 will be MAILED directly to you. We do not mail wristbands outside of the U.S. All non-U.S. purchases will be held at Will Call in Rocky Point.

Tickets purchased between May 31 and June 4 can be picked up at Will Call. Tickets will also be available at the gate the day of the show for $35.

Children 12 and under are free!

Will Call on Friday will be at JJ's from 6 p.m,. - 10 p.m.
On Saturday, Will Call will be at Chango's from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and again at 5:45 p.m.

Road Trip from Rocky Point to Cali in 6 hours (Including Border Wait Time)

The new Coastal Highway is completed and it just saved me 2 hours driving trime from Rocky Point to Cali!!

I have to admit that I didn't take the Coastal Highway the entire way since I wasn't familiar with that route yet and had to be in California at a specific time. I had to resort to the same route that I had taken back in July 2009 when the Coastal Highway was nearing completion. This route is a little bit of an adventure since there isn't a detailed map to go by and the signage isn't the best, but I gave you directions on my web site http://www.RockyPointDan.com . If you are up for the challenge.......I say go for it, do it in daylight so you could see the signs and enjoy the ride!! Mexicalli Border wait time was 30 minutes so you can call it a 5 1/2 hour drive more or less.

I plan to go to Cali again next month and I will take the Coastal Highway the entire way and let you know how it goes, give you directions and timing.

Vacationing in Rocky Point Mexico - Messages in the Sand say it all!

I can't help but to read all the messages written in the sand. Today I read one that really stood out and all I could do was wish that whoever wrote the message got what they asked for. In huge letters it read "CAN WE STAY???". Now that's a heck of a message and it says it all....Having tons of fun and not wanting it to end. I must say that there is nothing better than an extended vacation.

I was happy to meet some first time visitors from Long Beach California, return visitors from Colorado and many of you from Arizona. Hoping you all enjoyed your time in Rocky Point and come back again real soon!

There are many fun things planned here in Rocky Point and I'll keep you posted. Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers will be here June 12th. Memorial Weekend Begins With Channel 4 Tucson News At the Border - Rocky Point

Rocky Point is expecting a big crowd this Memorial Weekend and Channel 4 Tucson News is going to be at the border to document it. I just crossed the border yesterday back into Rocky Point and the Customs Patrol said that there has been a lot of travelers already. I didn't have a wait at the border and expecting some clients to cross today so can't wait to hear how it was at the border.

At 8 AM this morning the Sonoran Sea Resort Pool lounge chairs were covered with towels to reserve a spot by the pool. Now that is what I call planning ahead.

Today the beach and the pool area had tons of people and I could see that the vendors were very happy.   I stopped to talk to a few of them and most of them were saying that been waiting for this holiday weekend to come. I bought a Mango and handed the vendor a $20. He said he didn't have change and that he would be on the beach all day so that I could come and pay him later. I know it was only a $2.00 Mango, but where else would you be told to pay them later.   Another reason why I love Rocky Point.........the people here are wonderful!!

Speaking of wonderful. I just heard that a condo at Pinacate Resort was just reduced and is now priced at $69,900!! UNBELIEVABLE!! A Walk On The Beach - Rocky Point Mexico

While I was walking on the beach this morning I had a thought. It's funny how my thoughts seem to come more clearly and rapidly as I walk along the beach.

Well my thought was this.

As much as I neglect my facebook and as much as I don't claim to be a writer............. I have decided to blog my thoughts. I may not blog daily and perhaps not every other day, but I am going to make a go of this and share with you what a walk on the beach does to someone's life (my life).

Today's thought.

The beach is like therapy. To me it gives me time to be one in my thoughts..... but these thoughts are different as they are not focused on my work and of things I need to get done today. It's my time to let go and focus on nothing else but my surroundings and other things.

Today I couldn't help but think....... It's amazing how the beach draws families, couples and individuals out to it (while the pool remained empty), but what was most visible was everyone that I had walked passed carried a smile, some laughter or some a sense of peace about them. I thought....this is a beautiful thing and I am so happy that I can start my day with a walk on the beach.
